Traverse City Whiskey Company

The Traverse City Whiskey Company, one northern Michigan's most iconic whiskey and bourbon makers, had a vision to repurpose the abandoned Cherry Growers Co-Op facility in Elmwood Township, Michigan.  The project includes the transformation of the 34,000 square foot former cherry processing facility into a production and distribution facility, and a 10,000 square foot addition that includes offices, a tasting room,, retail space and outdoor seating to enjoy the picturesque Leelanau County countryside. Also included in the project is a new rickhouse for storing whiskey barrels and an above ground fire suppression tank. GFA was part of the design team with Mathison I Mathison Architects, providing full site design and surveying services for the project. The $20 million project is currently under construction with Erhardt Construction serving as the general contractor for the project, and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2023.
