This 72,000 square foot, 5-story mixed-use building is currently under construction on State Street in Traverse City. GFA worked with C4C & Companies and Socks Construction to take this project from initial concept through to Site Plan Approval. Located at 232 E State Street, the formed Covell Funeral Home site required complex thinking and design engineering to hurdle zoning restrictions, shallow infrastructure, existing topography and contaminated soil. Once completed, this Component Construction Systems (CCS) building will be one of the largest buildings constructed in Traverse City in that last 50 years. GFA's experience with City and County regulations and relationships with City staff expedited the design and permitting process. As of Spring of 2024, crews from Molon Excavating are on site performing excavation, site work, utility installation and prepping for the buildings foundations. GFA is providing full construction staking and construction testing services for the project.
