Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Engineering to help lead our Engineering Department. The Director will oversee project delivery, provide strategic and technical leadership, mentor staff, and support business development efforts. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality service, efficiency, and innovation across the department and firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for all engineering operations, projects, and personnel.
  • Oversee and manage project planning, design, and execution across civil, municipal, and private development projects.
  • Ensure technical quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of projects.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth, mentoring, and staff development.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, codes, and standards.
  • Support strategic planning and long-term growth initiatives for the firm.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and partners to strengthen relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resources to optimize project performance.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource, providing guidance on complex engineering challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan (required).
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with demonstrated success in project and staff leadership.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering design, municipal infrastructure, site development, and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Business development experience and ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to align technical operations with company goals.
